Terms of Service
George Automation — last updated 1 October 2026
These terms are a contract between you and George Automation. They cover everything we sell through georgeautomation.com: fixed-price services, monthly subscriptions and quoted work. Please read them — they are written in plain English on purpose. The short version below is there to help you; if it and the full terms ever differ, the full terms apply.
The short version
- George sells to businesses. By buying, you confirm you are acting for a business, not as a consumer.
- You pay the price shown. No VAT is added while we are not VAT-registered.
- Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel. Cancel any time; access runs to the end of the period you have paid for. We don't refund part-months.
- Quoted work is scoped in writing before it starts and paid by invoice. Once you've paid in full, the deliverable is yours; we keep our own tools and know-how.
- Systems we build or host come with maintenance and support, included in their monthly fee for as long as you pay it.
- If a payment fails you get seven days to fix it before access is paused.
- Our tools use AI. AI can be wrong. You review anything before it goes out under your name, and you stay responsible for your business.
- If something we built doesn't work as agreed, tell us and we fix it. Our total liability to you is capped at what you paid us in the previous twelve months.
- English law, English courts, and a conversation before either of us goes near a court.
1. Who we are
1.1 "George", "we", "us" and "our" mean John Patrick George, trading as George Automation, a sole trader established in England. Our address for correspondence and service of documents is 17 Cliffe Road, Birstall, Leicester LE4 3AE, United Kingdom. Our email address is hello@georgeautomation.com. We are not registered for VAT. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC252320.
1.2 "You" and "your" mean the business that buys from us, and any person who accepts these terms on that business's behalf. If you accept these terms for a company, partnership or other organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
2. Business customers only
2.1 Our services are designed and priced for businesses. By placing an order you confirm that you are buying for the purposes of a trade, business, craft or profession and not as a consumer.
2.2 If, despite that, you are in fact a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded by contract, and the liability cap in section 12 does not apply to those rights.
3. Your account and organisation
3.1 To use the portal you create an account and an organisation (a "workspace"). The person who creates the workspace is its owner. Owners and admins can invite other people to it and set their roles.
3.2 You are responsible for everyone you invite to your workspace, for keeping login details secure, and for everything done through your workspace by people you have given access to. Tell us straight away at hello@georgeautomation.com if you think an account has been compromised.
3.3 You must give us accurate details when you sign up and keep them up to date, including a working email address — it is how we tell you about your account, your billing and your projects.
4. What we sell and how it is delivered
4.1 Each product on the site states which delivery type it supports. The delivery type is chosen when you buy and decides who does what:
- Self-service — we provide a hosted tool. You operate it. We support it.
- Managed — we set up and operate the service for you, to rules agreed with you. You see status and reports in your portal.
- Collaborative — we set up and operate the service, and you approve what goes out through the approvals queue in your portal. Nothing that needs your approval is published or sent without it.
4.2 Product pages describe what each product includes. Descriptions are accurate at the time of publication; where a product page and a written quote for you differ, the quote governs that piece of work.
4.3 For fixed-price products (for example the AI Automation Audit, the E-commerce Operations Pack, video packages and content packs) the scope is the scope on the product page at the time you buy.
4.4 For quoted products (for example Custom Business Automation and Custom AI / Internal Apps) the scope is whatever is set out in the written quote we send you after your enquiry. Work starts when you have accepted the quote and paid the first invoice under it. A quote is open for 30 days unless it says otherwise.
4.5 Changes. If you ask for something outside the agreed scope, we will tell you before doing it whether it is included, or what it costs and how it affects timing. We will not charge you for extra work you have not agreed to.
4.6 Timing. Dates we give you are our good-faith estimates. We will tell you promptly if something moves. Dates are not a condition of the contract unless a quote says in terms that a date is guaranteed.
4.7 The AI Automation Audit credit. If you buy an Audit and then start a quoted build with us within 60 days of the Audit being delivered, the Audit fee is credited against the first invoice for that build.
4.8 Maintenance and support. Every system we build or host for you — an automation, an app, a chatbot, an operations pack — has a monthly fee, and that fee includes maintenance and support for as long as you pay it. That means we keep the system working as delivered; fix faults, including faults caused by changes to the third-party platforms it depends on (section 12.7); apply the security and software updates it needs; and answer your questions by email under section 14.2. It does not include new features or changes to what the system does: those are changes of scope under section 4.5. Each product page says what its monthly fee includes. For products that deliver content or a report rather than a system — the AI Automation Audit, video packages, content packs and creative builds — the product page states the revisions included instead.
If you stop paying a system's monthly fee, maintenance and support end at the end of the last period you paid for, and if we host or run the system for you, it stops running then too. You keep the deliverables you own under section 10.2, and if you ask within 30 days we will send you a copy of them.
4.9 Usage allowances. Where a product page states an allowance (messages, minutes, posts, videos), that allowance applies. If you go over it we will tell you and either charge the overage rate shown on the product page or, if none is shown, agree one with you before charging.
4.10 Acceptance. When we deliver a piece of work we will tell you it is delivered. If you don't tell us within 30 days that it fails to meet the agreed scope, it is accepted. Acceptance doesn't affect our promise in section 12.1 to fix defects you report within that time, or the maintenance included in a system's monthly fee under section 4.8.
4.11 Subcontractors and other clients. We may use subcontractors for parts of the work (for example video production). We remain responsible to you for their work as if it were our own, and they are bound by confidentiality. We work for many businesses, including ones in the same trade as you, and nothing in these terms makes us exclusive to you.
5. Prices and payment
5.1 Prices are in pounds sterling and are the prices shown on the site or in your quote at the time you order. We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added. If we become VAT-registered we will tell you in advance and VAT will then be added to prices at the applicable rate.
5.2 Card payments. Fixed-price products and subscriptions are paid by card through Stripe when you buy. We never see or store your full card details; Stripe does. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself.
5.3 Invoices. Quoted work, and anything else we agree to invoice, is due 14 days from the invoice date unless the invoice says otherwise. If a business invoice is not paid on time we may charge interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 (currently 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate, plus the fixed sum the Act allows). We would much rather you talked to us first.
5.4 Subscriptions. A subscription starts when you buy and renews automatically every month on the same day until cancelled. You authorise us (through Stripe) to charge your card for each renewal. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before any change to a subscription price; if you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
5.5 Setup fees. Where a product has a setup fee and a monthly fee, the setup fee is a one-off charge for the initial work and is not refundable once that work has started.
5.6 Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will email you and retry. You have seven days from the failed payment to update your payment method. During those seven days your service continues with a notice in your portal. After seven days without payment, access is paused until the balance is paid. We may end the subscription if it remains unpaid for 30 days.
6. Cancelling and refunds
6.1 Subscriptions. Cancel at any time from the billing page in your portal (Manage billing → cancel). Your subscription runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and is not renewed. We do not refund part of a month.
6.2 Fixed-price one-off products. If you cancel before we have started work, we refund you in full. Once work has started, we don't refund, because the work is being done for you. "Started" means we have begun the work itself, not just acknowledged your order.
6.3 Quoted work. Cancellation terms are in your quote. If the quote is silent, you may cancel by email at any time and pay for work done up to the day we receive your cancellation, at the rates in the quote or, if none, at a fair proportion of the quoted price.
6.4 If we cancel. We may end a subscription or a project on 30 days' written notice for any reason, or immediately if you are in serious breach of these terms (section 13). If we end it without you being in breach, we refund any pre-paid amount for the period after the end date.
6.5 Refunds go back to the payment method you used, through Stripe, within 14 days of us agreeing the refund.
7. What you have to do
7.1 Give us what we need, when we need it: access to the systems the work depends on, the information we ask for in the onboarding questionnaire, and timely decisions and approvals. If a project stalls for more than 30 days because we are waiting on you, we may pause it and, for subscriptions, continue to charge, or end it under section 6.4.
7.2 Have the right to give us access to any system, data or content you connect to a George service — your own accounts on third-party platforms (Shopify, Meta, Google and so on), your customer data, your brand assets. You confirm that you do, and that our using them as agreed will not break any law or any agreement you have with someone else.
7.3 Use the services lawfully. In particular: no spam, no messaging people you don't have the right to contact, no content that is illegal, defamatory, infringing or hateful, and no use that would put us in breach of a third-party platform's terms. Where a service sends marketing messages, you are responsible for complying with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and UK GDPR for the people you contact, including holding any consent that is needed and honouring opt-outs.
7.4 Keep your own backups of anything important to you that you upload or connect to a George service.
8. Approvals, rules and acting on your behalf
8.1 For collaborative services, an approval you give in the portal is your authorisation for us to publish, send or do the thing approved, as approved. You are responsible for what you approve.
8.2 For managed services, we act within the rules and instructions you have given us in writing (including in the onboarding questionnaire and the portal). Something done within those rules is done with your authority.
8.3 If we think an instruction is unlawful, likely to damage your business or ours, or against a platform's terms, we may decline it and will tell you why.
9. AI
9.1 Our services use artificial intelligence, including large language models provided by third parties, to generate text, images, video and decisions. AI systems can produce output that is inaccurate, incomplete, biased, out of date, or that resembles existing material.
9.2 We build in checks and, for collaborative services, your approval step. But you must review AI-generated output before relying on it or publishing it under your name, and you remain responsible for it once you have. We do not guarantee that any AI output is accurate, original, fit for a particular purpose, or free of third-party rights.
9.3 We do not use your confidential information or your customers' personal data to train AI models. Our providers' terms on training and retention are described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Ownership and intellectual property
10.1 Your material. You keep everything you own: your brand, your content, your data, your customer lists, your systems. You give us a licence to use them only as needed to provide the services to you, for as long as we do.
10.2 Deliverables. Once you have paid in full for a piece of work, the intellectual property in the deliverables created specifically for you under it — the automation, app, videos, content or report — becomes yours, subject to 10.3. We assign it to you with effect from payment in full; where the law requires a signed document for an assignment to take effect, we will sign a short confirmatory assignment on request, and until then you have an exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free licence to use the deliverables for any purpose. Until payment in full, we own the deliverables and you have a licence to use them only to evaluate and use the service.
10.3 Our materials. We keep ownership of everything that existed before your project or that we created for general use: our tools, templates, frameworks, code libraries, prompts, know-how and the George platform itself, and any improvements to them. Where a deliverable includes our materials, you have a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free licence to use them as part of that deliverable. You may not extract them to build a competing service.
10.4 Third-party and AI-generated components. Deliverables may include open-source software, third-party services and AI-generated output. Those are provided under their own terms, and to the extent the law does not treat AI output as protected by copyright, we assign or license whatever rights exist. We will tell you about any open-source licence that imposes conditions on your use.
10.5 Hosted services. For subscriptions and self-service tools, you are licensed to use the service for your business while the subscription lasts. Nothing in the service is assigned to you.
10.6 Showing our work. We may say that you are a client and describe the work in general terms in our marketing. We won't publish specifics, screenshots or results without your prior agreement, and you can withdraw permission at any time by email.
11. Confidentiality and data protection
11.1 Each of us will keep the other's confidential information confidential and use it only for the purposes of this contract. That does not apply to information that is public through no fault of ours, that we already had, or that we are required by law to disclose.
11.2 Where we process personal data on your behalf — your customers' details inside an automation, for example — we do so as your processor and you are the controller. Our Data Processing Agreement, available at georgeautomation.com/legal/dpa and on request, sets out the terms, forms part of these terms, and governs in the event of conflict on data protection matters.
11.3 Where we process personal data for our own purposes — your account, billing, our communications with you — we are the controller and our Privacy Policy applies.
11.4 Each of us will comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 in relation to personal data processed under this contract.
12. Warranties and liability
12.1 We promise to provide the services with reasonable care and skill, in line with their description and any written quote, and to fix within a reasonable time anything that doesn't meet that promise when you tell us within 30 days of delivery. That is your remedy for defective work, alongside your right to a refund under section 6 where it applies.
12.2 Except as set out in 12.1, and to the extent the law allows, we exclude all other warranties, conditions and terms that would otherwise be implied, including that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or achieve any particular result. We do not promise sales, leads, rankings, response rates or savings.
12.3 We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
12.4 Subject to 12.3, we are not liable to you for: loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings; loss or corruption of data (beyond restoring from a backup we hold); or any indirect or consequential loss — in each case however arising.
12.5 Subject to 12.3, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with this contract, in any 12-month period, is limited to the total amount you paid us in that period (or, if the claim relates to a single quoted project, the price of that project, if greater).
12.6 You will compensate us for any loss, claim or cost we suffer because of content or data you gave us or approved, or because of your breach of section 7, except to the extent we caused it.
12.7 Third-party platforms. Our services depend on platforms we don't control — payment providers, AI providers, Shopify, Meta and others. We are not responsible for their availability, changes to their terms or APIs, or their decisions about your accounts. Where a platform change breaks something we built, fixing it is included in that system's monthly fee under section 4.8 while you are paying it. If you are not, we will quote for the fix before doing it.
13. Suspension and ending the contract
13.1 We may suspend or end your access immediately if you: don't pay after the grace period in section 5.6; seriously or repeatedly breach these terms; use the services unlawfully or in a way that harms us, our other clients or a platform; or become insolvent.
13.2 Either of us may end a subscription under section 6. Either of us may end a quoted project on 30 days' written notice, with payment for work done to the end date.
13.3 When the contract ends: your access to the portal for that product stops at the end of the paid period; sections that by their nature should survive (payment of sums due, ownership, confidentiality, liability, governing law) survive; and the owner of your workspace can download a copy of everything in it, at any time, from Settings and without asking us. That does not stop when the product does. Any other member of the workspace can email us for a copy and we will provide it. If you want the data deleted, email us and we will do it. Scheduled deletion after a product ends is being brought into service; until it is, we delete on request rather than automatically, and our Privacy Policy sets out the periods that will apply.
14. Service availability and support
14.1 We aim to keep the portal and self-service tools available at all times but do not guarantee uptime. We may take services down for maintenance, and will give notice where we can.
14.2 Support is by email at hello@georgeautomation.com, or through the chat in your portal. We reply personally, usually within one working day. Support for a system is included in its monthly fee (section 4.8).
15. Changes to these terms
15.1 We may change these terms. For subscriptions we will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a change that affects you takes effect; if you don't accept it, cancel before that date and the old terms apply until then. For quoted work, the terms in force when you accepted the quote apply to that work. The "last updated" date at the top tells you which version you are reading.
16. General
16.1 Notices must be in writing: to us at hello@georgeautomation.com or the address in section 1; to you at the email address on your account. Email notices count as received the next working day.
16.2 Complaints. For a complaint about our service, email hello@georgeautomation.com with "Complaint" in the subject. We acknowledge within two working days and aim to resolve within ten.
A complaint about how we have handled personal data is different. Use our data protection complaint form at georgeautomation.com/privacy/complaint, which does not need an account. We acknowledge those within 30 days, as the Data Protection Act 2018 requires. If you send a data protection complaint to the email address above instead, we will treat it as a data protection complaint and reply on that basis.
16.3 Disputes. Before starting any court claim, each of us agrees to try to resolve the dispute by a discussion between the people responsible, within 30 days of one side asking. That does not stop either of us seeking urgent court relief.
16.4 Whole agreement. These terms, the product description, any written quote, the DPA and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us for the services. Neither of us relies on anything said that isn't in them (but nothing limits liability for fraud).
16.5 Assignment. You can't transfer this contract without our consent. We can transfer it to a successor to our business, and will tell you if we do.
16.6 Third parties. No one other than you and us has any rights under this contract (the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 does not apply).
16.7 Waiver and severability. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
16.8 Events beyond our control. Neither of us is liable for failing to perform because of something beyond our reasonable control, provided we tell the other promptly and do what we reasonably can to get going again.
16.9 Law and courts. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either of us may enforce a judgment anywhere.
These terms were drafted for George Automation and reviewed against English law as at September 2026. They are not legal advice. If you are unsure of anything in them, ask us at hello@georgeautomation.com before you buy.
